About Us

For over 40 years, Allan Creates has been creating custom made jewelry. Passion for his work has made Allan Creates an expert on the design and fabrication of every aspect of the jewelry process – handcrafted with skills handed down under the guidance of his father to son.

Having a master craftsman for a father gave Allan the taste for creating as well, He trained from the age of thirteen under his father for three years in basic apprenticeship as a preparation for an additional 5 years from the age of 16 which took him to the best platinum shop in Canada in the early 1960’s. Under the guidance of the shop Forman from Paris. There was always 8 to 10 fine metal craftsman on the work shop staff, mainly from Paris and Germany.

Allan Creates has worked with platinum all those years since, even through the years when the demand for platinum was low during the 1970’s he never lost his interest in his hard earned craft. Allan Creates is offering his talent through this web site to those that appreciate his experience in fine hand wrought high quality platinum work.

Platinum work was much in demand after the Second World War and since has made a resurgence in popularity. Over the many years Allan Creates has involved himself in the many aspects of the trade. Work has included wax sculpting and casting in platinum, however, he has no interest the latter, the physical nature of the material can be problematic in the many steps into the finished piece.

handle the large ones for your and his security, believing it is pointless to have his clients pay to have the head aches and stress associated with shipping and insurance issues involved with the larger stones.

There are skilled diamond setters in every city around the world, as jewelry stores need their services but, due to cost choose not to have them on staff as full time employees. So they are commissioned on a job by job basis, and you can do the same to complete the installation of your diamond. Surprisingly the cost of insurance and shipping risk far outweigh the cost of setting your diamond and the peace of mind is immeasurable to all concerned.

That is how he did it for over 15 years, when he dealt with re-sellers (Store Keepers). They ordered their mounts, with the small diamonds all complete ready to receive the large stones as they in turn, would have a local setter to set the large stones themselves.

Casting platinum in the market place has become the standard, as necessity, being the only hope to make a living for many craftsman who work for the re-sellers (Store keepers) to cut cost, but the quality is inconsistent once again due to the nature of the material at best. One only has to look at all the postings of stones falling out, reports of rings cracking, and in general a big mess, and a disgrace to the trade. Therefore, he does not use wax to create and cast his platinum jewelry; He works directly in .960 platinum. He uses 4% ruthenium alloy that He mixes in himself with pure Platinum. All his platinum pieces are made with rolled out platinum hand wrought which compresses the platinum to perfection, for the very high gloss finish that only compressed molecules can provide that his clientele loves.

He does not use CAD digital technology and has no interest in it, Preferring to work with the more versatile pencil and paper to make plans and ideas come alive on paper. Although Allan Creates sets all his stones himself he does not wish and won’t
